There is something verrry interesting about the Indianapolis Mini Marathon.... One may be running, one may be walking, some may be wearing the edgiest runner's garb, while some find themselves in full-on fireman uniforms.... Either way, we're all in it together. I'm jealous of the fast ones, not because they're better at running than me, but because they probably endure the same thing I am, just for 30 minutes or an hour less.
Today for the first time in five halfs, I ran the WHOLE thing. Anything further than ten for me was a win, but Nate pushed me to the end. Actually he pulled me.... literally. Just on the last mile. This was also the first time I've ever enjoyed a race. I ran my last race in Hurricane Ike (I have a keychain to prove it)... Not super enjoyable. All the other races I start gasping for air at mile 1. Today I didn't start gasping until at least mile 11. There were a couple of almost puke accidents, but only due to a chain reaction of other pukers. I even ran a couple of miles by myself while Nate stopped, went to the bathroom and ran and caught up with me. He's impressive. He then played in his alumni soccer game. Like I said, He's impressive.
A bunch of people I know ran it.... I was honored to be stuck in the 13.1 mile boat with them.
