Anderson University Security Log...

~Campus police towed a vehicle for a parking violation and for being a habitual parking offender…. Uhoh… I’m a habitual parking offender! I’ve got letters to prove it.
~Campus police received a report of student falling down after stepping into a hole on the SOT drive… yeah because when I fall in a hole, I call security so that they can know and then write about it in the newspaper…
~A vehicle was booted in the soccer field parking lot for failing to register their vehicle and for receiving five or more parking violations…. I’m pretty sure this was leah’s car.
~A vehicle backed into the university shuttle bus on Morrison Hall Drive…. Poor girl.
~Campus police responded to a fire alarm at Mansfield Apartments. Upon arrival, the officer found the alarm was activated by a student who had burned food while cooking… there are like ten of these and I’ve done it twice. Anderson University is seriously in need of some fire safety cooking lessons.
~Campus police received information that an AU student was arrested in another county for possession of a handgun and marijuana….. Well that’s not funny.
~A vehicle was found driving the wrong way on Chestnut Street. The vehicle was stopped and the drive was issued a university ticket…. Too bad those don’t count unless you’re a student.
~Someone notified campus police that someone is sending counterfeit AU checks to various locations around the country asking persons to cash the checks, keep ten percent and send 90 percent to an address outside the U.S…… oooooh a real crime!
~Campus police observed a black car disregard the stop sign at 5th and cottage streets, then doing donuts in the Park Place Church parking lot. The male driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to jail… I’m pretty sure this was leah too. Except it was a male and leah doesn’t do donuts…

That’s all the news for now. If you have any questions or concerns… join the club.

Ashley's Fun Friday...

So tonight is the wedding of the century and all of my friends are going. My roommate's (haley) sister is getting married! How exciting! Unfortunately, I wasn't invited (actually it's a fortunate thing, I don't even know the girl). My favorite boy ever is on spring break so he's in St. Louis... So tonight is officially Ashley's Fun Friday! I'm house sitting for a family at my church so I have a house and two dogs to myself! I plan to read a book of mine(that's not for school! It could be the first time this semester!) Dig through some of missy's books (the lady I'm house-sitting for). She is the author of this book and this book. Which I did not know until I saw tons of copies on her bookshelf. So after I get sick of reading, I plan to take a bath, watch a movie, and put together my wedding book (I've been cutting out pictures and articles for a long time now, so I figure I should try to organize them somehow... No, Rob, I'm not engaged... But a girl can dream... and that's exactly what I'm going to do!)

Handbells?

Pretty... right? I think so every now and then... But is it worth the ridiculous expenses? Who knew?

Hiding his word in my heart...

So I was just reading this guy's blog, and he has decided to start memorizing scripture... And I'm realizing that I am at the point that I can't be without these certain words written on my heart. Psalm 51 is written after a guy by the name of Nathan confronts David about his affair with Bathsheba... DON'T GET ANY IDEAS.... I've never really been a "grand sinner", you know the kind that get noticed... But I am a perfectionist and I constantly feel my sin "staring me down". So for my own heart's sanity, I am memorizing Psalms 51 And because I tend to exegete every word I read, I decided to keep it simple by memorizing from the message...

Psalms 51:1
Generous in love—God, give grace!
Huge in mercy—wipe out my bad record.

2 Scrub away my guilt,
soak out my sins in your laundry.

3 I know how bad I’ve been;
my sins are staring me down.

Psalms 51:4
You’re the One I’ve violated, and you’ve seen
it all, seen the full extent of my evil.
You have all the facts before you;
whatever you decide about me is fair.

5 I’ve been out of step with you for a long time,
in the wrong since before I was born.

6 What you’re after is truth from the inside out.
Enter me, then; conceive a new, true life.

Psalms 51:7
Soak me in your laundry and I’ll come out clean,
scrub me and I’ll have a snow-white life.

8 Tune me in to foot-tapping songs,
set these once-broken bones to dancing.

9 Don’t look too close for blemishes,
give me a clean bill of health.

10 God, make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.

11 Don’t throw me out with the trash,
or fail to breathe holiness in me.

12 Bring me back from gray exile,
put a fresh wind in my sails!

13 Give me a job teaching rebels your ways
so the lost can find their way home.

14 Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God,
and I’ll sing anthems to your life-giving ways.

15 Unbutton my lips, dear God;
I’ll let loose with your praise.

Psalms 51:16
Going through the motions doesn’t please you,
a flawless performance is nothing to you.

17 I learned God-worship
when my pride was shattered.
Heart-shattered lives ready for love
don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.

The words sound intense, but as I am praying this prayer, I believe God is reminding me that the battle is already won... Like I said: I am his and he is mine. And he is continuing to work in me each and every day... Fun...

After Seven Services, I would hope I learned something...

Happy Easter! I have found that I am broken, in need of a savior, and thirsting for more from my redeemer and less from my world. My God reigns and lives and dwells in me.

Soon, I will be searching for Easter eggs and spending time with my family. Then, tomorrow, I'll be driving back to school to finish the month and a half that I have left of my junior year...
Then summer will come and while I have no idea what I'm doing or how I'll be doing it, In all of this, I know that I will do "too much", play "too hard", dream "too big" and forget to rest... which is great and I would love to live that way every day of my life, but I would also hope that in the moments of being "too much" of everything, my heart would be still and calm and reminded of the God that created me to be this way; that my soul would be thrilled to participate in something bigger than I'll ever know and that I, like everyone I do life with, am broken and in need of a savior...

I love the days that God meets me where I am and reminds that I am His.

Angry March...

Welcome to the first day of spring!  The equinox occurred at 1 something this morning...  My brain agrees that it is spring because I keep thinking I can run outside with no winter warmth apparel... bad idea.  Welcome, also, to the first day of march madness...  that's college basketball for those who are like me and tend to know nothing about any sports endeavor...  I filled out like twelve different brackets, so I'm bound to get one of them right, right?  We'll see... rock chalk jayhawk!

4:24 a.m.

yeah it's another insomnia post... I have been tossing and turning since my boyfriend called (waking me up) at 1:30 a.m. I like him a lot, but I'm not sure how nice I was. Anywho... I fell off my bed twice! And here's the fun part, I remember my dream: ~~~~~ (that was the cheesy dream sound you find on shows like Full House and Saved by the bell)~~~~ I offered to have my wedding during one of our church services at the Bridge. It meant that I had a week and half to plan my dream wedding that could only last about 15 minutes. I was with a bunch of my school friends and found my dress... and it's funny because there is no way I would EVER wear the dress I picked. My bridesmaids (who didn't have faces?) found their dresses and it was all fantastic! The only thing is I forgot to tell the groom. And then I found myself in the kids section of barne's and noble looking for presents for the ring bearers and flower girls, when all of the sudden my mom (who of course magically appeared) started telling me to slap something with my purse. It was a snake! There were actually 4 of them! (and one alligator, but he looked like a cartoon). The next thing I knew, I was laying on the floor of barnes and noble with no feeling in my legs (maybe this is when I was on my own floor?) I woke up walked out of the kids section and ended up being in the hallway of my own house in st.louis. When I went downstairs to tell my mom that I had been bitten by a poisonous snake, she took me to the Emergency Room right away. I forget what the doctors did, but it was all very rushed since I only had an hour before the poison would reach my brain and force my body to stop functioning all together (graphic, my dreams, aren't they?)... Anyways, needless to say, the scariest part was having to call my boss... haha. I had to call him and let him know that I would not be ready to get married by sunday. He was mad and said he knew that I would back out! (Ouch!)~~~~~~~ Anyways, yes, my dreams are intense and I remember so much of them that they don't make sense, but whatever. Now I'm watching George Lopez and updating my blog and kind of wishing I could get married on sunday. Here's a thought... someday, when I actually do get married, I won't have to blog about my lame dreams... I can just roll over and tell my husband alllll about the deadly snakes or the ugly dress that I picked or the fact that I forgot to invite his parents.... that's exciting...

The Macbook Air Song (Yael Naim)

Every time I hear this song I wonder whose singing... I finally figured it out. She was on the Early show this morning. I might like her.

Spring Break 2008!

I am saddened and dismayed to announce that my spring break officially ended this morning at 8 a.m. It was a wonderful spring break... filled with many things I will never forget. Here are some highlights...

~I went to Schnuck's with my brother Bretty and he makes me laugh.
~I got to hang out with my mom who had her tonsils out a few weeks ago. She's still healing so I'm glad I got to spend some time with her.
~I went out to dinner with my parents and my dad gave me a mock job interview. He's intense. And so smart. I would be terrified to be in an interview with him. He asks tough questions. But it helped a lot.
~I had lunch with the whole youth staff from my church! They are fun.
~I went to the doctor... all is well.
~I got to spend a few days in Florida with some of my favorite people.

~4 of the 5 of us got something called the rotavirus. Or so we were told...
~I got a sunburn.
~Apparently I'm a heavy sleeper.

~I watched the Bee Movie.
~I discovered the fun games on my new nano...
~Enchanted comes out tomorrow!

Now I'm back at school. Just for a few days though. Easter break starts thursday! WaaHoo!!
